After living in London for 6 years, I came back home to Atlanta longing to experience the inspiring fabric shops that I loved so much in London such as Ray Stitch, Cloth House and Sew Over It. I had the pleasure of writing about and photographing more than 40 of them in my book, London Stitch and Knit, a guide to London’s Fabric and Knitting shops (yes, there are that many there!) Drawing on aspects of my favorite fabric shops in London, I created Topstitch Studio and Lounge to be exactly the kind of place I want to have for others to shop, sew and share their handmade experiences.
I've connected with some incredibly talented local Atlanta sewists who teach at Topstitch Studio and who will be there to help customers become familiar with all of our excellent merchandise. We offer beginner to advanced sewing classes, carry independent apparel sewing patterns, exceptional apparel fabrics and unique sewing tools from around the world. On our shelves are supplies from companies who value aesthetics as much as function, such as Sajou in France and Merchant and Mills in the UK. Our apparel fabrics range from designer cotton prints from some amazing Atlanta locals, to crepe viscose from the Atelier Brunette Couture Collection in Paris. Our patterns are from indie designers across the globe, including Grainline Studio (USA), Named Clothing (Finland) and Closet Case Patterns (Canada) to name a few. We also have a thoughtful selection of embroidery kits and supplies as well as handmade accessories.
We host trunk shows with independent makers, movie + craft nights, sewing classes and open sewing sessions because sharing creative experiences is what we value most. Check out our currents classes and events. If you’re interested in collaborating in any way, please get in touch!
