Do you understand the basics, but want to add more finishing skills to your sewing game. In this 2 hour class, you will learn various seam finishing methods as well as valuable skills like making buttonholes and adding an invisible zipper. *Please note, the goal of the class is to demonstrate and practice skills on scraps of fabric and not to make a finished garment.
Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in this class are how to finish seams, sewing a button & buttonhole, sewing an invisible zipper.
The seam finishing techniques we will cover are using pinking shears, zig zag stitch, French seams and brief info on the serger.
The hem finishing techniques you will learn are a fold up hem, a rolled hem and a blind hem.
Skills Expected:You will not be taught to sew in this class so please be sure you already know how to sew! You've taken one of our intro to sewing classes orhave the equivalent amount of experience. You have some basic garment sewing experience such as a pullover top or a-line skirt. You know how to thread and use a sewing machine. You've sewn within the last 2 years.
Materials needed: None, we will provide some fabric scraps to practice on.
Materials provided: Fabric scraps, sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape, an iron and ironing board.
