Capsule Wardrobe Consultation

Summer session: Monday, July 29th, 5:30-7:30 PM

Fall session: Friday, September 13th, 5:30-7:30PM

In this 2 hour session, you will meet with one of our instructors who will consult with you on your current wardrobe favorites, your current wardrobe needs, discuss body type and any fitting challenges you might encounter when sewing for yourself (if you already sew for yourself). They will then help you determine the best type of garments to suit your body type and style. Your instructor will also go over the basics of pattern reading and cutting out your fabric in preparation to sew.

Sewing with Knits - The Essential T-Shirt

Summer  session: Thursday, August 1, 5:30-8:30 PM

Fall session: Saturday, September 14th, 10:30-1:30PM

In this intro to knits class, students will make a knit t-shirt. In this class, you'll learn to work with knits, sew them on a regular sewing machine with a ball point needle. You will learn various stitch options and how to hem knits.

Dressmaking - Advanced Beginner Dress

Fall Session: Saturday & Sunday, September 21st & 22nd , 10:30-1:30PM both days

In this advanced beginner dressmaking class, students can choose to make our Essential Shift dress. This dress is a great advanced beginner sewing pattern, ones that bridge the gap between the simplest of garment patterns and more advanced dressmaking patterns. Designed with everyday wear in mind, this dress features a slightly looser shape for a flattering, comfortable fit. You will learn to sew darts and how to add pockets.

Sewing Pants -  Advanced Beginner to Intermediate

Summer session: Tuesday & Thursday, August 27th & 29th, 5:30-8:30 PM both nights

Fall session: Saturday & Sunday, September 28th & 29th, 10:30-1:30PM both days

In the pants class, students can choose to make one two pants patterns, the Calyer Pants or the Moji Pants. The two options include a tapered trouser with pockets and elastic waist or a drawstring peg pant. These pants cover a range of different skills, which can be discussed at your consultation and after the first couple of classes to determine which is best for you.

Your patterns are included with all classes. You will not be taught how to sew in these classes, you will need to cut out your patterns and fabric at home before each class. If you need help with pattern reading or cutting out, just let us know and we will arrange to help you!

Fabric not included in the classes but you will receive a 15% discount on any fabrics purchased at Topstitch for the course. Check the pattern backs for fabric yardage required for your size. Bring your pre-washed fabric to class.
