The Sapporo Coat by Papercut patterns is a loose and breezy, sophisticated coat with a dramatic cocoon silhouette. It has angled seams and is fully lined without a closure. It's a great introduction to coat-making without set in sleeves, little fitting challenges and no complicated closures. For winter choose a light or medium weight wool, for spring or summer choose light to medium weight fabric such as linen or canvas. Pattern matching and the lining, depending on your fabric choice can be a bit tricky. If you lean more towards beginner, choose a solid outer fabric that does not require pattern matching and choose a lining that is not too slippery such as cotton lawn or shirting.
Note: To save time and space for your fellow sewists, please arrange to collect your pattern and cut your pattern out before class. If you are not able to collect your pattern, please let us know and we will mail it to you! We encourage you to contact us before class for help cutting out your fabric if needed.
