The Charlie Caftan is the ideal garment for summer. A flattering silhouette that's perfect for a brunch or the beach. In 2 three hour Intermediate class sessions, you will be making this kimono sleeve kaftan. This garment has a deep V neckline, inset center panel and roomy pockets. We will be making view B or C. Pattern and sewing tools included at class. Fabric not included. Check the pattern back for fabric yardage required for your size. Bring your pre-washed & pre-cut pattern pieces to class. Note: You will need to arrange to collect your pattern and cut your fabric out before class. We've found the cutting out is very time consuming. If you can't collect your pattern, please let us know and we will mail it to you. We encourage you to stop into the shop before class for help cutting out your fabric if needed.
Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in this class are inserting a center panel, adding a waist tie, gathered waist.
You've taken one of our intro to sewing classes or have the equivalent amount of experience. You know how to thread and use a sewing machine. You have some basic garment sewing experience such as a pullover top or a-line skirt. You have experience reading and cutting out a pattern. You've sewn within the last 2 years. You will not be taught to sew in this class so please be sure you already know how to sew!
Materials needed: See your required fabric yardage information on the back of the pattern and bring your pre-washed and cut pattern pieces to class. We have a lot of great choices for this kaftan at the shop.
Materials provided: The Charlie kaftan sewing pattern, a sewing machine, coordinating thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.
