Ready to start sewing your own clothes, but not sure where to start? This introductory class will break down the basics of garment sewing and help build your confidence in sewing wearable clothing. In this class you will learn how to take your measurements and how to read a garment sewing pattern. You will learn how to find your size, tracing your pattern and cutting it out. We will go over all that goes into preparing your garment for sewing. We will look closer at indie sewing patterns we carry, reading a sewing pattern, methods of cutting & tracing, and some basic grading techniques.
Please note, you will NOT be sewing in this class. We recommend this as a primer to beginner sewing or after taking one of our beginner sewing classes. If you would like a beginner garment sewing class, we recommend our essential shirt class.
Skills you will learn: The skills you will learn in the class are how to take your measurements, how to read a sewing pattern, basic understanding of grading.
Skills expected: None, but it will help your understanding of the class concepts if you have sewn before.
