In this class you'll get a great introduction to block printing from block printing textile artist, and one of Topstitch Studio's instructors, Kari Culberson. Block printing offers endless possibilities to customize your own housewares and gifts. In this class you will be making tea towels. First you will draw your design, carve it out onto your block, print it and then finish the edges of your tea towels on the sewing machine. If you don't know how to sew or don't want to sew your tea towels, you can finish the raw edges with pinking shears.
Skills expected: Level 1 sewing--enough to finish the edges of your tea towels, but you can also do this with pinking shears if you don't sew.
Materials needed: Two linen or cotton fabric pieces measuring at least 1/2 yard total. (We sell muslin--a plain weave cotton in ivory--if you would like to purchase it at the shop.)
